Fun and Refreshing

Every year, our Graphics Department and Marketing Department collaborate to create a mailer that is sent to our firm’s close connections that celebrates Major League Baseball’s Opening Day. Seeing the year prior to this, there was a lengthy MLB Lockout postponing the season and allowing our mailer to highlight estranged history in sports. However, this year, our team wanted to focus on a more uplifting, fun, and refreshing theme — concessions! As an architecture firm that has worked on multiple MLB stadiums, this theme would reflect the varying food culture in ball parks across the nation.

Food on the Mind

With the theme of ballpark cuisine in tact, our graphic designers created a mailer that was inspired by classic packaging we have all seen in American food. Checkered patterning can be seen on the front cover that echoes the typical paper wrapping from burgers and hot dogs. Food characters were drawn as “mascots” across the campaign. Colors used are common colors one might see in a diner. Finally, the fold and overall design of the mailer was inspired by food menus.

Our team had to include a section that highlighted local Cincinnati cuisine and even a personal story about our Founder, Michael Schuster, when he worked at Riverfront Stadium as a young college student.
