Xavier University’s current and planned growth has accelerated the need for on-campus student housing and the implementation of their master plan.
For Recruiting and Retention
Limited student housing is considered a constraint to enrollment, including recruiting and retention. As such, new student residence facilities are key components of Xavier’s long-term vision and strategy. Xavier University selected the MSA Shepley Bulfinch design team to complete the design and development of a first phase of student housing. Shepley is providing overall design strategies and is executing the residence hall portions of the project while MSA is focusing on the overall interior architecture, and coordination of site work, utilities and local building issues.
Room to Expand
The project includes over 500 new student beds in addition to apartments for Musketeers in residence along with ground-level space for food service or retail use. Overall campus planning concepts have been carefully integrated into this development. Pedestrianization of adjoining roadways, to be completed in phases, will extend the “campus in the park” master plan concept with additional pedestrian malls linking campus buildings.
